What We Collect

When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture URL. We store these to identify your account and household.

When you use Kainta!, we store the data you provide:

• Household member profiles (names, roles, dietary restrictions, safe foods)
• Recipes you add or import
• Meal plans generated for your household
• Grocery lists and ratings

We do not collect payment information during the beta period. We do not track browsing behavior or use advertising cookies.

How We Use Your Data

Your household data is used exclusively to generate meal plans, grocery lists, and recipe suggestions personalised to your household. It is sent to Anthropic's Claude API to power meal plan generation. Anthropic's privacy policy applies to that processing.

We do not sell your data. We do not share it with advertisers. No ads appear in Kainta! on any plan.

Where Your Data Is Stored

Beta period: Your data is stored in a Google Sheet managed by Handwired LLC. All households share one sheet, isolated by a unique household ID. The sheet is accessible only to the Kainta! service account and Handwired LLC.

Post-beta: Data will be migrated to a private Azure SQL database where each household's data is fully isolated.

AI Processing

Meal plan generation sends your household rules, member profiles, and recipe pool to Anthropic's Claude API. This data is processed to generate your meal plan and is not used to train Anthropic's models under our API agreement. Kainta! meal plans are AI-generated suggestions — they are not medical or nutritional advice.

Your rights (CTDPA)

Under the Connecticut Data Privacy Act you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate personal data
• Delete your personal data
• Data portability — receive your data in a portable format
• Opt out of any sale of personal data (we do not sell data)

To exercise any of these rights, go to Account → Delete account or contact us at [email protected]. We will respond within 5 business days.

Data Deletion

You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from the Account page. Deletion removes all household members, recipes, meal plans, grocery lists, ratings, and your user record. This is permanent and cannot be undone.

If you request deletion by email, we will process it within 5 business days.

Cookies

Kainta! uses one session cookie (kainta.auth) to keep you signed in. This cookie is HttpOnly, SameSite=Lax, and expires after 30 days of inactivity. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking.
